Project Overview

ACE Recycling Group is a 100% Australian-owned e-waste recycling and resource recovery company, established in 2014 and operating five strategic processing facilities across Australia. The business processes more than 10,000 tons of electronic waste and recyclable materials annually, serving commercial, residential, industrial, and council clients. ACE holds multiple ISO certifications and operates to rigorous environmental and workplace safety standards.

Australia Security Forces was engaged to provide ongoing warehouse security services and a structured personnel screening program across four ACE Recycling Group facilities: the Sydney head office and processing warehouse at St Marys.

Unusually for a security engagement of this nature, ACE Recycling Group developed a formal Security Screening Policy and Security Guard Work Instruction a documented, legislatively compliant framework governing exactly how security operations are conducted at each site. Australia Security Forces guards operate within this policy across all facilities.

The Challenge

E-waste recycling facilities handle significant volumes of valuable electronic equipment, components, and recoverable materials alongside sensitive company and client data contained in the devices being processed. This creates a security environment with two distinct risk categories: physical asset protection and information security.

ACE Recycling Group’s facilities operate with large workforces of employees, contractors, and visitors moving through warehouse entry and exit points throughout the day. The risk of inventory misuse, unauthorized removal of company property, and information leakage through personal devices required a security program that was both operationally rigorous and legally compliant particularly with respect to privacy legislation governing personnel screening.

The specific security objectives documented by ACE included:

  • Protecting ACE Recycling Group property and inventory from misuse
  • Preventing customer and company information from being leaked
  • Maintaining a safe and secure workplace across all facilities
  • Ensuring all screening equipment is properly tested, calibrated, and maintained daily
  • Managing the movement of all employees, contractors, and visitors through designated security checkpoints

Our Security Solution

Australia Security Forces deployed licensed Class 1A security guards across ACE Recycling Group’s facilities to deliver a comprehensive warehouse security and screening program. Guards operate within ACE’s formal Security Screening Policy a structured, legislatively compliant framework covering screening procedures, privacy obligations, incident management, and workplace conduct.

Personnel Screening

Every employee, contractor, and visitor passes through designated security checkpoints at warehouse entry and exit points. Guards operate body scanners and hand-held metal detectors (HHMD), conduct pat-down searches where required, manage employee check-in and check-out records, and enforce strict personal device restrictions for production team members. All screening is conducted in accordance with privacy legislation and ACE’s documented procedures.

Access Control

Guards manage and monitor all vehicle and pedestrian access at warehouse entry and exit points, including the front warehouse and secure working areas at the rear. Movement during working hours is controlled employees may only pass through checkpoints during approved break times or with authorization via walkie-talkie from reception. Refusal of screening is managed in accordance with company policy and employment conditions.

CCTV Monitoring, Patrols and Incident Management

Guards monitor CCTV systems, conduct security patrols of site facilities, and respond to incidents as they arise. All incidents are recorded in a daily log, reported to site supervisors immediately, and escalated to management or authorities where required. End-of-shift records are returned to the warehouse reception office.

Implementation

The ACE Recycling Group engagement is one of the most procedurally structured security deployments in Australia Security Forces’ portfolio. Prior to commencing, guards received training in ACE’s Security Screening Policy and Security Guard Work Instruction delivered by ACE’s HSE Officer covering screening procedures, respectful interaction with employees, identification of company property, and response protocols for prohibited items and refusals.

Each shift follows a documented procedure: guards arrive before 7:45 AM, collect daily checkpoint records from the office, test all screening equipment and communication tools, confirm policy signage is displayed, and log pre-start results before the first employee arrives. At shift end, all records are completed and returned to reception by 4:15 PM.

Guards wear high-visibility vests at all times on site and operate with walkie-talkie communication to reception, maintaining continuous coordination throughout the shift.

Results

Australia Security Forces has maintained ongoing warehouse security and personnel screening services across ACE Recycling Group’s facilities as documented. Licensed guards operate within ACE’s formal Security Screening Policy a legislatively compliant framework that ACE developed specifically for this engagement delivering consistent, accountable security operations across all sites.

The daily checkpoint record system provides ACE management with a complete, verifiable audit trail of guard attendance, equipment testing, and employee movement at every facility, every shift.

Client Outcome

ACE Recycling Group has a formal, documented security program operating across facilities protecting inventory, confidential information, and workplace safety with a level of procedural rigour that most warehouses do not achieve. The engagement demonstrates what is possible when a security provider works within a client’s own compliance framework rather than imposing a generic solution.

For warehouse operators, logistics businesses, industrial facilities, and any organization handling high-value goods or sensitive information, this case shows how structured warehouse security properly implemented and consistently delivered directly addresses the risks that matter most.
